The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education. – Martin Luther King, Jr.

19th Anniversary

In 2002, the cruisers (sail boaters) anchored in Zihuatanejo bay & gathered to raise funds to build a bilingual classroom for indigenous children. Today the school serves nearly 400 bright-eyed young scholars. And a tradition was born.

Zihua SailFest is a seven-day festival that combines sailing, music, arts & parties, heart-felt volunteerism and an outpouring of international friendship. Although the tone of the events is light-hearted, the goals are serious – to raise funds for the education of Zihuatanejo’s less fortunate children.

Last year, with the enthusiastic participation of their land-based volunteers, the cruisers raised a total of $2,226,273. pesos to enrich the future of our kids.
