Second Grade Scholars
My husband I first began going to Zihuantanejo 4 years ago. We were encouraged to volunteer for Sailfest and loved every minute of it. Although our role was small we could see the benefit to the community and especially the children that it serves. We discovered that first year that Sailfest was only one part of a larger charitable organization, Por Los Ninos. We had done some reading prior to that first visit and so brought with us suitcases of shoes, underwear and school supplies. We felt connected to the children and the community immediately. Our second year we visited one of the schools with more loot for the kids and were overwhelmed with the love and gratitude the children were so willing to share with us.
Now in our 4th year we are very involved in Sailfest and have sponsored 2 wonderful children from the same family. We are so blessed to have them in our lives. Ele and Jose (parents of sponsored children) have been so gracious in allowing us to get to know their children and we could not be more thrilled with the true sense of doing something meaningful. The love, gratitude and joy that flows between our families is incredible. Our sons will be joining us next year and meeting our sponsored children for the first time. We are so excited.
We have been so thrilled with the work of Por Los Ninos that we have made Por Los Ninos our charity of choice through our business back in Canada and are telling all of our clients about this amazing organziation and the work they are doing. This is not about money but about transforming lives through relationships, connections and global caring that has the power to change the world one child at a time. Thank you to all of the people who have made our experience so fulfilling.
