Another benefit for kids in Zihua!
Our Southern Oregon Rotary Clubs, in partnership with the Ixtapa Rotary Club, have been awarded a $13,751.usd grant to provide furnishings for our La Joya primary school, “Bicentenario de la Revoluciòn”. The grant will be utilized to purchase nearly 100 school desks, 9 white boards, 9 large enclosed bookcases, 9 teacher’s desks & chairs, 18 fans, 18 light fixtures, and a public address system. The fund-raising drive was led by our good friend of the children, Jim Darrow, a member of the Sutherlin, Oregon Rotary Club. This is the second grant Jim has successfully acquired for the La Joya school.
Por Los Niños is currently building three new classrooms at the school in partnership with the City of Zihuatanejo, for a total of nine classrooms. The school expects to welcome approximately 234 bright-eyed young scholars for the Autumn 2013 enrollment.
